The role - what we expect from you:

• Contribute to the Company's business planning and financial forecasting processes.

• Provide strategic insights to the Executive team on regulatory reporting, financial planning, and risk management.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including the preparation and submission of annual reports and other regulatory filings.

• Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks and protect the Company from potential financial losses.

• Evaluate and identify risks associated with life insurance products.

• Conduct peer reviews and independent evaluations of actuarial work to ensure accuracy and compliance.

• Consistently seek ways to improve actuarial processes and efficiency.

• Effectively communicate complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management and board members.

• Prepare detailed actuarial reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

• Oversee the design and development of new life insurance products to meet market needs and company objectives.

• Lead the accuracy and integrity of actuarial data used in pricing, reserving, and risk management.

• Implement and maintain data management systems to support actuarial functions.

• Lead and supervise a team of Actuarial Analysts, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.

• Set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and ensure the team meets its objectives.

• Develop and implement training programs to enhance the actuarial skills and knowledge of the team.

• Foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the team to leverage collective expertise and insights.

• Take on any other duties, tasks, assignments, and projects delegated from time to time.


Qualifications, Skills and experience required

• Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.

• A Post Graduate Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field is an added advantage.

• Associateship with any recognised Actuarial society.

• 5-10 years' work experience in actuarial roles, including positions of increasing responsibility.

• Experience in producing actuarial opinions and reports, particularly within the life insurance sector.

• Expertise in developing and refining actuarial models to assess risks, predict future liabilities, and determine pricing strategies.

• Strong mathematical skills, including calculus, probability, and linear algebra, essential for actuarial modeling and risk assessment.

• Proficiency in software and tools like Prophet, Moses, or AXIS for actuarial modelling.

• Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS.

• In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements related to actuarial practices and life insurance, including Solvency II, IFRS 17, and other local regulations.

• Ability to analyze complex problems, evaluate various solutions, and make sound decisions based on logical reasoning and evidence.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying benefits information to employees and stakeholders.

• Flexibility to adjust to changes in regulations, benefits trends, and organizational needs.

• Precision in managing benefits data, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
