1. Job Title: Receptionist
The University of Zimbabwe is inviting suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the RECEPTIONIST position at the University of Zimbabwe Quinary Hospital, which includes the University of Zimbabwe Specialist Medical Centre.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the front desk operations, handling communication, administrative tasks, and ensuring a welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
Qualifications and Experience
Must possess a Certificate in Receptionist Training
Minimum of two years’ experience working as a Receptionist
Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate must be able to:
Manage the front desk, handle communication and administrative tasks
Schedule appointments, manage patient records, and process payments
Ensure the reception area is well-maintained
Interact professionally with patients, address their concerns, and provide information about the practice and services
2.Pharmacy Assistant
The Pharmacy Assistant will support pharmacy operations, including dispensing medications, managing inventory, and delivering customer service under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
Qualifications and Experience
Must have at least five passes at ‘O’ Level, including Mathematics and English
Must have at least two passes at ‘A’ Level
Minimum of two years’ experience working as a Pharmacy Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be able to:
Support pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing customer service
Prepare prescriptions, handle customer inquiries, process payments, and maintain a well-stocked pharmacy
3. Cleaner / Messenger
The Cleaner/Messenger will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness, delivering documents and supplies, and providing basic administrative assistance within the hospital environment.

Qualifications and Experience
Must have at least five passes at ‘O’ Level, including English and Mathematics
Minimum of two years’ experience working as a Cleaner
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be able to:
Deliver documents, supplies, and equipment within the unit or to other locations while maintaining accurate records of deliveries
Assist with basic administrative duties such as filing or photocopying
Help prepare venues for events or training sessions
4. Coordinator
The Coordinator will oversee the setup and operational management of the hospital, ensuring efficient delivery of services, medical supplies, and community access.
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy or a relevant Medical degree
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
Qualification and experience in project management is an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate the establishment of the UZ Quinary Hospital and Specialist Medical Centre
Manage medical supplies, essential equipment, maintenance, and operations
Report regularly to the Management Board for effective service delivery and medical training
5.Ophthalmologist
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold an MBChB degree and a Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology or recognized equivalent
Must be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 3 years’ practicing experience as an Ophthalmologist
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose, and treat ophthalmic conditions
Perform ophthalmic surgeries and prescribe lenses and medications
Educate patients on eye health
Collaborate on research and teaching at the University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
6 . Optometrist
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold a Bachelor of Optometry or an equivalent qualification
Must be registered with the Pharmacists’ Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 3 years’ practicing experience as an Optometrist
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform eye examinations, prescribe lenses, and screen for conditions like glaucoma and cataracts
7. Nurse in the Operating Theatre, Ophthalmology Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Must possess a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences degree or a Diploma in Nursing
Hold a Diploma in Operating Theatre Nursing
Must be registered with the Nurses’ Council of Zimbabwe
At least 2 years of experience as an Operating Theatre Nurse
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare surgical rooms, assist during operations, and provide care after surgery
Ensure a secure surgical environment for eye surgeries
8. Sister-in-Charge, Ophthalmology Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences degree or Diploma in Nursing
Must be registered with the Nurses’ Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Ophthalmology Unit
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide patient management, staff supervision, and administration
Ensure smooth operation of the ophthalmology unit
Maintain high-quality patient care and safety standards
9 . Nursing Sister, Ophthalmology Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Must hold a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences degree or Diploma in Nursing
Must be registered with the Nurses’ Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an Ophthalmology Unit
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality patient care and supervise staff
Assess patient needs, develop care plans, and coordinate treatments
Contribute to staff training and quality improvement initiatives
10. Nurse Aide, Ophthalmology Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Certificate in Nurse Aid training
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Nurse Aid
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist patients with daily needs, hygiene, feeding, and mobility
Prepare examination rooms and ensure patient safety
11. Biomedical Engineering Technician, Ophthalmology Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Higher National Diploma in Electronics Instrumentation and Control or Telecommunications
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (advantage)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a technician
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate and maintain ophthalmic equipment like autorefractors, tomographs, etc.
12. Spectacle Workshop Operator, Ophthalmology Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Certificate as an Optical Laboratory Technician
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Optical Dispensing Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities
Fabricate and fit spectacles, cut and mount lenses, and repair eyewear
13. Dentist, Oral Health Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Dentistry degree
Registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Dentist
Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose, treat, and educate patients on oral health
Maintain patient records and provide emergency care
14. Dental Therapist, Oral Health Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Dental Therapy
Registered with the Medical & Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe
At least 2 years’ experience as a Dental Therapist
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide clinical dental services and preventive care
Ensure infection control and a hygienic environment
15 .Dental Assistant, Oral Health Unit
Qualifications and Experience
Dental Assistant Certificate
At least 5 O’ Level passes
Minimum of 3 years’ experience assisting in dental procedures
Duties and Responsibilities
Support dentists and hygienists during procedures
Prepare patients, sterilize instruments, and handle administrative tasks
16 .Pharmacist
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Pharmacy degree
Registered with the Pharmacists’ Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Pharmacist
Duties and Responsibilities
Dispense medications and advise patients
Manage pharmacy operations and collaborate with healthcare professionals
17. Pharmaceutical Technician
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology
Registered with the Pharmacists’ Council of Zimbabwe
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Pharmaceutical Technician
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist pharmacists, prepare prescriptions, maintain inventory, and interact with patients
