 Job Description

- The Workshop Foreman will be part of the Underground Engineering team and will report to the Mobile Plant Engineer.

- The job involves enforcing safety, health, and environmental standards, maintaining and repairing Load Haul Dump (LHD) machines, supervising artisans, conducting root cause analysis for machine failures, planning and scheduling work, ensuring quality and compliance, recommending improvements, overseeing inspections and maintenance, and performing other duties as assigned.


 Roles & Responsibilities

- Enforces and ensures compliance to all safety, health and environmental standards.

- Maintains, services and repairs LHDs.

- Ensures all machine safety devices are not compromised.

- Supervises, organises and directs work of artisans ensuring repaired equipment is available for mining operations at all times.

- Conducts root cause analysis for machine failures.

- Plans and schedules work for artisans.

- Ensures quality and compliance with job standards.

- Recommends changes, improvements, new techniques or procedures for best practice.

- Oversees inspections and maintenance of LHDs.

- Ensures availability of critical spares and service kits for smooth running of LHDs.

- Ensures scrupulous standards of housekeeping are maintained in and around the workshop.

- Inspects all spares and services received and ensures that they meet FRGM standards.

- Performs any other duties assigned by the supervisor.


 Requirements

- A minimum of 5 O' level subjects including English and Mathematics.

- A National Diploma in Diesel Plant fitting.

- Class one skilled worker certificate in Diesel Plant fitting.

- A minimum of 5 years post Apprenticeship experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory position.
