Position : FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

ROLE PROFILE:

AFC Commercial Bank, a subsidiary of AFC Holdings seeks to recruit a Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Head – Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily accounting activities of the Bank. The candidate is also responsible for preparing the Bank's Annual Report in line with IFRS and other regulatory requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:

- Preparing monthly financial accounting reports and coordinating financial reporting in compliance with all statutory requirements.

- Generating the Bank's financial accounts as per International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

- Preparing tax computations and filing returns with ZIMRA for all applicable tax heads in compliance with relevant tax legislation.

- Reviewing the trial balance regularly and ensuring that all accounts are scrutinized to guarantee the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial data.

- Producing weekly operating expenses reports for Management.

- Coordinating grading of accounts by branches in line with RBZ Regulatory guidelines.

- Administering statutory payments such as Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF), Standard Development Levy.

- Analysing and providing feedback on project resource utilisation, budget variances, and profitability.

- Checking the validity and legitimacy of payment requests and making payment orders and payment authorization documents among others.

- Managing internal and external audit exercises.


Job Skills & Competencies:

- Excellent understanding of IFRS.

- Ability to interpret compliance and regulatory requirements.

- Capacity to manage a team of junior accountants and other staff.

- Strategic thinking.


Qualifications and Experience:

- Degree in Accounting.

- A post-graduate professional accounting qualification such as IC AZ, ACCA or CIMA.

- A minimum of 5 years of financial accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role preferably in a banking environment.
