THE ROLE  

This role involves providing high-quality technical support, system maintenance, and data upkeep across several areas to enhance the effective delivery of IT services.  

These positions are available in three Field Offices: Bulawayo, Masvingo & Harare, and will report to the Head of Field Office.  


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not exhaustive):  

1. Execute system maintenance tasks, including monitoring, diagnostic runs, and optimization, to ensure systems operate effectively and facilitate ease of use.  

2. Manage technology, including routine repairs, configurations, and storage, in line with data security and access guidelines to guarantee the availability of IT equipment necessary for WFP personnel.  

3. Organize files and systems for inventory and archives, such as web content and directories, to keep information accurate and current.  

4. Delegate tasks to other team members, ensuring that work meets agreed standards and timelines to aid in the effective delivery of services.  

5. Address a range of inquiries regarding technology and systems to support WFP staff in fulfilling their service obligations.  

6. With guidance from senior colleagues, deliver standard training for end users of technology and systems to ensure effective usage of these resources by staff.  

7. Execute routine deployments of server hardware and software, including testing and problem identification, to maintain the effective operation of technology.  

8. Take charge of maintaining information records by updating web pages and statistical databases to ensure information remains up-to-date and well-organized.  

9. Install, operate, and manage telecommunications systems and equipment to ensure optimal service delivery in accordance with standard operating procedures.  

10. Assist in the development of standard materials like training documentation and web content on behalf of senior officials to ensure staff have access to necessary information regarding IT services and products.  

11. Propose enhancements to methods and processes to facilitate the continual improvement of IT services.  

12. Adhere to established emergency response protocols and procedures as needed to support the fulfillment of emergency food assistance requirements.  


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Completion of secondary education is required. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant functional area is preferred.

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in resolving more complex technical issues. Experienced in applying client service standards to address or escalate client service challenges.


Knowledge and Skills:

• Proficient in addressing more intricate technical issues.

• Collaborated with unit heads to define requirements for the functional area.

• Experienced in using client service standards to manage or escalate client service issues.


Language: General Service (Headquarters): High proficiency (level C) in English is necessary. High proficiency (level C) or intermediate knowledge (level B) of another official language may be required depending on the post's location or area of responsibility.

General Service (Field): Proficient in both oral and written communication in the official UN language used at the duty station as well as in the local language of the duty station, if applicable.
